Today I am excited to share with you my experience at the beautiful Chicheley hall! Chicheley is in my home town of Milton Keynes, but when I arrived it felt like I had escaped to the country! I couldn’t believe what a difference 15 minutes down the road can make and it truly was a relaxing and luxurious little getaway! Carry on reading to find out what I got up to and to see the incredible grounds of Chicheley hall and why it is the dream wedding venue!
*Disclaimer*- This was a complimentary stay that was kindly given to me by Chicheley hall, but my opinions are genuine and honest.
All About Chicheley Hall
Chicheley hall is a grade 1 listed mansion nestled away in 80 acres of beautiful land in Milton Keynes, England. Chicheley dates all the way back to the 1700s and is a gorgeous mix of historic architecture and modern elegance. What I particularly liked about Chicheley was how quiet it was. Despite being a short distance from the M1 and central Milton Keynes, it felt like we were actually in remote countryside. It instantly made me feel like I was on holiday and it felt private and secluded.
Weddings At Chicheley
It is no surprise that Chicheley hall is a popular location for weddings, meetings and events. Not only are the grounds stunning, Chicheley offers absolutely everything you could possibly need for the big day and definitely deserves its recognition as one of the top wedding venues in the country. It is fully licensed for civil ceremonies of up to 100 guests and the main house can hold 80 guests for the ceremony and wedding breakfast, and then a further 150 evening guests. There are 48 bedrooms on site that can be hired for exclusive use for weddings and events.
The grand staircase in the main house is absolutely beautiful and I can only imagine how wonderful it would look and feel to walk down those stairs in a beautiful wedding gown! If indoor events aren’t your thing, then you will be pleased to hear that the grounds and gardens of Chicheley are absolutely perfect and picturesque, with the possibility to pop up a marquee or two, if you wish. The resident peacocks add a fabulous little touch also!
They also have a great deal going on at the moment if you are searching for a wedding venue from now until March 2019 which i took a photo of in case any of you are interested!
A Superior Stay In The Appleton Room
I was super excited to find out on arrival that I would be staying in the Appleton room which is the oldest room in the house and one of the superior bedrooms on offer at Chicheley. It is by far the largest room I have ever stayed in and also the most beautiful. A huge bonus for me was the quick internet which I was not expecting as often when I stay in hotels, the internet can be very slow. As a blogger, good internet is essential and Chicheley Hall really delivers.
The bed was extremely comfortable and spacious. I slept really well that night! The bathroom was also a great size and the bathtub is very deep. The water heats up very quickly and the view of the gardens from the window is breathtaking!
Dining And Entertainment
A major perk of staying at Chicheley is the fact that they have a restaurant on site, so you do not have to leave the hotel. I can safely say that dinner was absolutely delicious and there are plenty of options to choose from, including vegetarian. The dining hall has a warm, cosy feel to it and the service is impeccable. This is also the room you will have breakfast in.
Breakfast is done as a self-service style between 7am-9.30am Monday to Friday and 8am-10am at the weekend. Dinner is served between 7pm and 9pm and room service is available from 12 noon until 10pm! They also have a 24 hour reception which is extremely handy. If you do wish to leave the hotel, central Milton Keynes is about a 10 minute drive and you’ll find plenty of places to eat and things to do!
You will be pleased to know that there is a bar on site. I enjoyed a delicious G&T, garnished with fresh orange and pink peppercorns! They have a fantastic wine selection to choose from and snacks if you are peckish!
The onsite library is very relaxing and there are so many books to choose from. I could easily have curled up in here all day with a nice cup of tea.
